Coach Demarest enters his 6th season as the head Cross Country coach for both boys and girls at Parkview. He also is the head distance coach for the track team.
Coach Demarest ran competitively at neighboring Dacula High School and graduated in 2004. While at Dacula, he was a member of the 2002 3rd place and 2003 4th place State Cross Country teams in Class 5A (at the time, the state's largest classification). Additionally, he still co-holds the 4x1600m school record with Ryan McClay, Blais Lavender, and Matt Gordon set during the 2004 track season.
Following high school graduation, Demarest ran on scholarship at Georgia College & State University and helped the school reach new athletic heights never before achieved in cross country. In 2006, GC's cross country team took second place at the Peach Belt Conference Championships and followed it up with a ninth place finish at the NCAA South Regionals - both school records. Demarest was also featured in the top 10 all time lists for both the 8K and the 10K upon his graduation (but has since been 'bumped').
Coach Demarest still runs today and among his many races include the 2008 Lake Placid Ironman Triathlon and the 2013 Hartford Marathon. He does like to pretend he can still run with his best high school runners, and he appreciates when they slow the pace down so he can still keep up on occasion!
